Crypto Industry Unprepared for Post-Quantum Cryptography, Quantus Study Finds

A new report from Quantus warns that the crypto industry is not ready for the transition to post-quantum cryptography, leaving wallets, exchanges, and governance systems vulnerable.

Blockchain project Quantus has published a research paper titled The State of Quantum: What Crypto Can’t Afford to Ignore, warning that the cryptocurrency industry is unprepared for the shift to post-quantum cryptography.

The report identifies wallets, exchanges, custodians, validators, bridges, and governance systems as particularly exposed. It notes that the majority of the market still relies on classical signature schemes such as ECDSA and Ed25519.

According to the paper, Shor's algorithm theoretically enables quantum computers to break these systems once sufficient computational power is reached. The findings highlight a growing urgency for the industry to adopt quantum-resistant standards before the threat materializes.
