Airbus Wins EUR 345M Contract for Copernicus Sentinel-1 NG Radar Instruments
Airbus SE has been awarded a €345 million contract by Thales Alenia Space to provide radar instruments for the Copernicus Sentinel-1 NG mission, with first launch expected in 2034.
Airbus SE has been awarded a €345 million contract to supply radar instruments for the Copernicus Sentinel-1 Next Generation (NG) mission. The contract was signed with industrial prime contractor Thales Alenia Space and announced at the ILA Berlin air show.
The Sentinel-1 NG mission is part of the European Copernicus Earth observation program. The first launch is currently expected in 2034. The radar instruments will provide enhanced imaging capabilities for environmental monitoring and disaster response.
This win strengthens Airbus's position in space-based Earth observation systems, following its existing role in the Sentinel-1 program.
