XTB Secures Indonesian CFD Approval, Plans Launch Within Weeks

XTB has secured Indonesian approval to offer CFDs and expects to launch within weeks, CEO Omar Arnaout said, adding a higher-revenue product to its existing stock and ETF operation.

XTB has secured regulatory approval to offer contracts for difference (CFDs) in Indonesia and expects to launch the product within weeks, CEO Omar Arnaout said in an interview published on Thursday.

The approval expands the Warsaw-listed broker's existing Indonesian operation, which has focused on stocks and ETFs. Arnaout, speaking to the Polish-language YouTube channel Comparic, said only minor operational work remains before XTB can officially start the new offering.

XTB entered Indonesia in January 2024 by acquiring a 90% stake in Eagle Capital Futures. Its local subsidiary subsequently received approval covering stocks and ETFs, with the company initially targeting a 2025 launch.

Indonesian market heats up

The new CFD licence gives XTB access to a higher-revenue product in a market where the company has faced low deposits and limited brand recognition. In an earlier interview, Arnaout had set Indonesia a six-month period to show it deserved resources alongside markets such as Europe, the UAE and South America. Indonesia produced XTB's fastest first 1,000 accounts, but he said the economics remained uncertain and preferred allocating technology resources to Germany and the UAE.

Arnaout now says XTB has no further licensing or geographic expansion planned. The company will focus on existing markets, including Indonesia, Chile, the Gulf region and several European countries.

XTB is not alone in chasing Indonesian CFD clients. Plus500 acquired Global Intra Berjangka, a Bappebti-regulated broker, in December 2025. Doo Financial's local subsidiary received a futures brokerage licence and access to Indonesia's alternative trading system in December 2024, covering futures, CFDs and over-the-counter products.

CFDs remain XTB's main earnings engine, generating PLN 1.98 billion, or about 96% of its gross result from financial instruments, in the first half of 2026. The company acquired 703,333 clients over the same period, while stocks, ETFs and Investment Plans represented 82.9% of first transactions by new EU clients.

Separately, Arnaout said XTB could become the second most popular investment app in France by end-2026 if current momentum continues. XTB launched tax-advantaged PEA accounts in April 2025, grew its French client base 50% that year, and extended US options to France in May 2026. It also sponsored Paris La Défense Arena.

The CEO also said XTB is preparing a promotional campaign across several European markets, expected in three to six weeks. Germany and France will receive the largest increase in marketing focus, and XTB's longer-term ambition is to build the EU's biggest investment app.
