Former Velocity Trade eFX Head Greg Lunz Joins Axi in Product Growth Role

Greg Lunz, previously Head of eFX for APAC at Velocity Trade, has joined Sydney-headquartered broker Axi as Head of New Product Innovation and Growth, taking up the role in July 2026.

Sydney-headquartered forex and CFD broker Axi has appointed Greg Lunz as Head of New Product Innovation and Growth. Lunz, who previously ran the electronic FX business for Asia Pacific at Velocity Trade, started in the Sydney-based role in July 2026, bringing more than two decades of trading, risk and liquidity experience to the retail brokerage.

His arrival ends a four-year stint at Velocity Trade, where he served as Head of eFX for APAC between August 2022 and July 2026. Before that, Lunz spent close to six and a half years at Australia-based brokerage Global Prime as Head of Risk and Liquidity, joining in October 2015 and leaving in March 2022.

Institutional and buy-side background

Lunz's earlier career was split between institutional banking and asset management. From October 2010 to March 2015 he worked in Global Markets Risk at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London. He began his financial markets career as a Fund Analyst at London-based ECM Asset Management, where he worked for almost three years between August 2007 and April 2010.

The appointment adds electronic FX, risk management and liquidity expertise to Axi's operations. Axi has not disclosed which products Lunz will oversee in his new position, or whether the broker intends to launch additional offerings under his leadership. His product innovation and growth remit has also not been publicly mapped to the firm's wider strategy.

Axi was founded in 2007 under the AxiTrader name and later rebranded as Axi as it widened its international footprint. The broker offers trading across currencies, commodities, indices and cryptocurrencies through its various international entities, subject to local regulation. Beyond its core brokerage business, Axi has moved into prop trading with Axi Select, which gives traders access to progressively larger allocations of trading capital.

The hire comes as the broker continues to operate across both retail trading and trader-focused services.
