U.S. Oil Giants Hit Impasse in Venezuela Field Talks

Negotiations between major American oil companies and Venezuelan authorities over access to prime oil fields have stalled, reports say.

Talks between U.S. oil supermajors and Venezuelan officials have reached an impasse, according to sources. Companies including ExxonMobil and Chevron are seeking to unlock production in Venezuela’s top-tier reserves, but disagreements over terms have brought negotiations to a halt.

The stalled discussions represent a setback for American firms hoping to re-enter the Venezuelan energy sector after years of sanctions-related restrictions. Prime fields in the Orinoco Belt and other regions are at the center of the standoff.

Neither side has publicly commented on the status of the talks. The situation adds uncertainty to global supply chains at a time when energy security remains a key focus.
