Trump Urges Fed Rate Cuts as Gulf War Ends, Sees Lower Prices

President Trump pointed to a recent favorable inflation report and the conclusion of the Gulf War, stating that costs are falling rapidly and that prices should drop significantly, while pressing the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates.

Late in Monday’s North American session, US President Donald Trump commented on the economic outlook, noting a good inflation report had recently been released. He added that costs were falling rapidly and that the end of the Gulf War would help drive prices down significantly.

The president used the improved inflation backdrop to renew his call for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. His remarks tie disinflation progress and geopolitical developments to the case for easier monetary policy.
