Softer Fed signals could lift euro, says Commerzbank

Commerzbank analyst Antje Praefcke sees potential for a stronger euro if the Federal Reserve signals a less aggressive stance, despite expectations of a hawkish hold.

EURUSD

The euro may gain against the US dollar if the Federal Reserve adopts a softer tone, according to Commerzbank strategist Antje Praefcke. Her note highlights that markets are already pricing in at least one rate hike by the FOMC under Chair Kevin Warsh.

The central bank is expected to deliver a "hawkish hold" at its upcoming meeting, but any signs of a more cautious or dovish outlook could weaken the dollar and give the single currency a lift. The call reflects the sensitivity of EUR/USD to shifts in Fed communication.
