Japanese Yen Strengthens on BoJ Hawkish Signals, Intervention Risks

The USD/JPY pair dipped near 163.10 in early Asian trade on Thursday as hawkish signals from the Bank of Japan and intervention fears support the yen, despite it trading near four-decade lows.

USDJPY

The Japanese yen edged higher against the US dollar during early Asian trading on Thursday, with USD/JPY slipping to around 163.10. The move follows hawkish commentary from the Bank of Japan, fueling speculation of further policy tightening and increasing the risk of currency intervention by Japanese authorities.

Despite the short-term strength, the yen remains under pressure near its weakest levels in 40 years, weighed down by persistent fiscal concerns. Traders remain on high alert for possible intervention as the pair continues to hover near historically significant levels.
