Iran FM Warns Foreign Forces to Leave, Rejects Hormuz as International Waters

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned foreign forces near Iranian territory to leave, saying the best way to reduce risk is their departure. He added that Iran prefers diplomacy but is capable of other languages, and rejected the Strait of Hormuz as international waters.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning to foreign military forces operating near Iranian territory, insisting they must leave to reduce the risk of escalation. According to the statement, Araghchi asserted that diplomacy remains Tehran's preferred path but emphasized that Iran is "capable of other languages" if necessary.

In a separate remark, Araghchi rejected the legal status of the Strait of Hormuz as international waters, a position that could affect maritime navigation rights. The comments come amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf region, where the Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments.
