GBP/JPY Retreats to 213.20 as Pound Loses Early-Week Momentum

The British Pound slipped against the Japanese Yen on Tuesday, paring Monday's gains and trading near 213.20 amid elevated intervention risks and weak UK business data.

GBPJPY

The GBP/JPY pair retreated to the 213.20 level on Tuesday, erasing part of the gains made earlier in the week. The move lower reflects growing caution around potential Japanese intervention and disappointing UK business activity figures.

Traders are monitoring the pair closely as the lack of a clear directional bias suggests continued uncertainty in the near term. The downside pressure comes despite the yen's own vulnerability, making the cross particularly sensitive to shifts in risk sentiment and central bank policy expectations.
