Cointelegraph Research and 8lends Report on Crypto Credit Structures

A new report from Cointelegraph Research and 8lends examines the different foundations of crypto credit, comparing CeFi lending, DeFi pools, tokenized Treasuries, and RWA private credit in terms of custody, collateral, and enforcement.

Cointelegraph Research, in collaboration with 8lends, has published a report analyzing how credit exposure is structured across the crypto market. The report breaks down four main categories of crypto credit: CeFi lending, DeFi pools, tokenized Treasuries, and real-world asset (RWA) private credit.

Each type relies on distinct mechanisms. CeFi lending concentrates counterparty exposure, while DeFi pools depend on onchain collateral and automated liquidation. RWA credit, by contrast, still rests on offchain underwriting and legal claims. The report asks what matters most when a position fails: the token, the collateral, or the claim behind it.

The full report is available as a PDF from Cointelegraph.
