The CIA and Israel's Mossad have intensified their search for Iran's new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father after a deadly airstrike in February 2026, according to a report by The Times.
Officials believe Khamenei was seriously injured in the attack and has since avoided all electronic communication for over 150 days. He has been staying in an underground shelter, possibly located near Tehran or the holy city of Qom, The Times reports.
Khamenei has not appeared publicly since assuming the role, fueling speculation about his condition and the stability of Iran's leadership. The search underscores ongoing tensions in the region.
