British Pound Hits Four-Week Low Despite Strong Data Week

Sterling traded below 1.3300 against the dollar on Monday, falling 0.3% to its weakest level since early July, even as the UK enjoyed its best data week since spring.

GBPUSD

Sterling traded below 1.3300 against the dollar on Monday, falling 0.3% to a level not seen since early July. The move pushed the British currency to a four-week low.

The slide comes despite the UK registering its strongest run of economic data since the spring. Typically, such positive releases would support the pound, but the market reaction has been the opposite.
