AUD/USD Falls Despite Strong Jobs Data, 50-Day SMA Caps Gains

The Australian dollar edged lower against the greenback on Thursday as a stronger US dollar outweighed better-than-expected local employment figures. The pair remains capped below the 50-day simple moving average.

AUDUSD

AUD/USD slipped on Thursday, trading around 0.6966 and losing 0.45% on the day. The move lower came despite a better-than-expected Australian employment report, as a firmer US dollar weighed on the pair.

The pair continues to struggle below the 50-day simple moving average, which is acting as a near-term resistance level. Bulls have been unable to sustain a breakout above this technical barrier, keeping the outlook cautious in the short term.
