Asian Stocks Slide on AI Spending Doubts; Chipmakers Hit

Asian stocks fell sharply on Tuesday as skepticism about the returns from AI spending sparked a sell-off in semiconductor shares. South Korea's KOSPI was among the indices hit hardest.

Asian equity markets tumbled on Tuesday, pressured by a broad sell-off in global semiconductor stocks. The declines were fueled by growing doubts that the enormous sums being invested in artificial intelligence will deliver the outsized returns once expected.

South Korea's KOSPI index joined the regional downturn, as major chipmakers listed on the exchange fell sharply. The sell-off extended across technology-heavy indexes, reflecting renewed caution toward AI-linked valuations.
