Danish consumer spending excluding energy remained broadly unchanged month-on-month in June, with a 4.3% year-on-year rise in real spending. Goods retail saw gains, especially in larger categories, while services lagged.
Danske Bank Research reports that overall consumer spending in Denmark, excluding energy, was broadly flat month-over-month in June. On an annual basis, real spending increased by 4.3%.
Real retail spending on goods rose during the month, with particular strength in larger consumer categories. In contrast, service spending was generally weaker, indicating a divergence between goods and services consumption.
The data suggests resilience in goods demand offsetting softness in the services sector, consistent with a mixed consumer outlook.
