KRW Strengthens on Equities and Hawkish BoK – BBH

South Korean Won is outperforming on strong local equities and a hawkish central bank stance, according to Brown Brothers Harriman's Elias Haddad.

South Korea’s won (KRW) is gaining ground, supported by robust equity market performance and a hawkish tilt from the Bank of Korea, according to Brown Brothers Harriman strategist Elias Haddad.

The KOSPI index has rallied sharply, driven by AI-linked semiconductor stocks, further boosting investor confidence in the won. The currency’s strength reflects both capital inflows and expectations of tighter monetary policy.
