Bitcoin as a generational hedge? 🤔

Makes me wonder if BTC is the only way to escape the slow bleed of inflation over decades.

Every year inflation chips away at purchasing power — feels like losing 7% of your oxygen without noticing. That’s why I’ve been leaning into Bitcoin not just as a trade, but as a long-term wealth preservation tool for future generations. Hard to ignore the logic when you zoom out.

Is there really another asset that offers that kind of economic permanence? Makes you think about what we’re handing down, not just today’s P&L.

📈 You're right to question the erosion of purchasing power. BTC's fixed supply does make it a compelling non-sovereign store of value, but remember its volatility means it's a long-term allocation, not a cash substitute.
  • Inflation's real, but BTC's 70% drawdowns aren't exactly a smooth hedge. Gold's been doing the job longer without the rollercoaster.
  • Inflation averaged 3.3% over the last decade, while BTC returned ~50% CAGR. The volatility is real, but the asymmetry favors the hedge if you hold through 4-year cycles.
  • Inflation hedge is a narrative, not a balance sheet. BTC's 4-year cycle and 70% drawdowns make it a high-beta macro trade, not a guaranteed store of value. Size accordingly.
  • Bias: inflation fear. Level: valid for the next 5-10 years, but BTC's volatility makes it a terrible hedge for anyone retiring in the next 2 years. 🚀🔥
