WTI Oil Rises Above $86 as Middle East Tensions Disrupt Supply

WTI crude oil extended its rebound on Wednesday, reaching an intraday high of $87.83, its highest since June, as rising Middle East tensions disrupt flows through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.

WTI crude oil continued its upward move on Wednesday, with bulls testing the 100-day simple moving average (SMA). The price climbed to an intraday high of $87.83, the highest level since June, before settling around $86.20.

The rally is driven by escalating tensions in the Middle East, which are disrupting oil shipments through key chokepoints such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. Market participants are pricing in a higher risk premium due to potential supply interruptions.

Technical levels to watch: The 100-day SMA remains a key near-term resistance. A sustained break above it could open the door for further gains, while any easing of geopolitical risks may trigger a pullback.
