The S&P Global Composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the United States rose to 53.6 on a preliminary basis in July, up from 51.9 in the previous month. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, and the increase suggests a faster pace of growth in the private sector.

The data point is closely watched by forex markets as it reflects overall economic health and can influence Federal Reserve policy expectations.
