Trump Blames Canada for Forest Fires, Threatens Higher Tariffs

President Trump accused Canada of willful negligence in forest management, causing air pollution in the US, and warned that the cost would be added to existing tariffs.

USDCAD

In a Truth Social post, President Donald Trump blamed Canada for failing to maintain its forests, claiming that resulting air pollution has invaded the United States. He stated that the cost of this pollution is "incalculable" and threatens to add it to the tariffs Canada currently pays.

Trump said he will call the Canadian Prime Minister to discuss the issue, calling Canada's refusal to engage in basic forest management "willful negligence." He characterized the problem as a yearly occurrence costing the US billions of dollars.
