Russian State Duma Passes Law on Digital Currencies

The Russian State Duma adopted a law recognizing digital currencies as property and setting rules for their circulation. The bill now requires approval from the Federation Council and the president's signature to become law.

The Russian State Duma has passed the law "On Digital Currency and Digital Rights" in its second and third readings. The document classifies digital currencies as property, introduces general rules for crypto circulation, and guarantees judicial protection of rights regardless of prior declaration.

Once the law clears the Federation Council and receives the president's signature, Russian citizens will be able to legally invest in cryptocurrencies through domestic exchanges, brokers, and trust managers. The move marks a significant step toward formalizing the crypto market in Russia.
