NEAR Protocol Governance Votes to End Developer Gas Fee Rebates

NEAR Protocol's on-chain governance body, House of Stake, has approved proposal HSP-027, which eliminates the gas fee rebate for developers that has been in place since the protocol's launch.

NEARUSD

On July 6, NEAR Protocol's on-chain governance body, House of Stake, adopted proposal HSP-027. The proposal cancels the gas fee rebate that developers have received since the protocol's launch.

Under the current system, 30% of the gas fees generated by smart contract calls are paid to the contract owner, while the remaining 70% is burned. After the change is implemented, the developer rebate will drop to 0%.

House of Stake described the measure as intended to reduce "protocol complexity and misaligned incentives for developers."
