Societe Generale strategists reassess the Hungarian Forint after the central bank cut its policy rate to 5.75% and signaled more easing, expecting a terminal rate of 5.0% by year-end.

EURHUF

Societe Generale strategists have issued a note on the Hungarian Forint (HUF) following the Magyar Nemzeti Bank’s (MNB) decision to lower its policy rate to 5.75% and signal further monetary easing.

The bank expects a terminal rate of 5.0% by the end of the year, with the EUR/HUF pair already having bottomed out. The rally against the euro is now being reassessed as the easing cycle deepens.
