Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced the launch of "Coinbase for Agents," a service that connects an AI agent to a user’s account for trading, payments, and other operations within predefined limits.

The solution is accessible through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for integration with ChatGPT or Claude, as well as via a command-line interface for developers. The AI agent can operate on the user’s main account or through a separate, isolated portfolio.

Use cases shared by the company include portfolio rebalancing to 60% BTC, 20% ETH, and 20% SOL, placing limit orders when the market drops by 5%, 10%, or 15%, and buying $20 of ETH daily for two weeks after analyzing 30 days of hourly price data.
