Kazakhstan Approves Strategic Digital Mining Rules

The Kazakh government has approved regulations for strategic digital mining, effective August 1, requiring miners to transfer part of mined assets in exchange for electricity quotas.

Kazakhstan’s government has signed official rules for strategic digital mining, set to take effect on August 1. Under the new framework, miners can access electricity at capped rates through a quota system, but must hand over a portion of their mined coins.

The transferred assets will be deposited into the Astana Hub autonomous cluster fund, then placed under the trust management of the National Investment Corporation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan. The proceeds will be used to build a National Strategic Crypto Reserve.

Miners wishing to operate under this regime must submit an application through the authorized body’s office or via the state electronic database.
