New Zealand CPI Inflation Climbs to 4.1% YoY in Q2, Above Expectations

New Zealand's Consumer Price Index rose 4.1% year-on-year in Q2 2026, exceeding both the 4.0% forecast and the previous quarter's 3.1% increase.

NZDUSD

Statistics New Zealand reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) accelerated to 4.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, up from 3.1% in Q1. The reading came in slightly above the market consensus of 4.0%.

Core inflation pressures remain elevated, potentially influencing the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's policy stance. The data suggests persistent price pressures in the economy, with the quarterly pace also likely to be scrutinized by traders.
