EU's Kallas: Bosnia's EU future at risk, warns window may close

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has reaffirmed that Bosnia and Herzegovina's future is in the European Union, noting that over 70% of the country's citizens support accession. However, she issued a stark warning that Bosnia cannot afford to be left behind as other nations in the region make progress.

Kallas pointed to several examples: Montenegro is drafting its accession treaty, Albania has opened negotiation chapters, and both Ukraine and Moldova have begun accession negotiations. She cautioned that the window of opportunity for Bosnia to join the EU may not remain open indefinitely. The statement underscores the urgency for political reforms in Bosnia to keep pace with regional dynamics.
