BNY's Geoff Yu notes that Brent crude has surged into the high $90s, driven by a geopolitical shock. Houthi attacks and escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran are increasing the risk of disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, key chokepoints for global oil shipments.

Fixed-income markets are reacting to the price spike as an inflation shock, pushing yields higher and tightening financial conditions. The move reflects growing fears of supply constraints in an already tight oil market.
