BBH Sees Japan June CPI Edging Higher, Supporting BoJ Expectations

Brown Brothers Harriman's Elias Haddad expects Japan's June CPI to edge higher across headline and core measures, with core ex fresh food and energy steady.

Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) analyst Elias Haddad expects Japan's June Consumer Price Index (CPI) to show a modest increase in both headline and core readings. The core ex fresh food and energy measure is forecast to remain steady.

These projections come amid growing market expectations that the Bank of Japan may adjust its monetary policy stance. A stronger CPI print could reinforce those expectations, supporting the Japanese yen.

Haddad's outlook highlights the ongoing divergence in inflation trends, with overall price pressures ticking up while underlying core metrics hold flat.
