Oil prices rallied sharply, with the US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) breaking through $84 a barrel. The advance represents a roughly 7% gain from the prior low of $77.16, recorded earlier in the week.
The move followed reports that the United States had renewed military strikes on targets inside Iran, heightening geopolitical risk and supply concerns. The escalation gave a strong bid to crude, pushing prices to levels not seen in recent sessions.
