Oil Rises, Stocks Slip on Renewed Hormuz Tensions

Oil prices climbed and equity futures softened as markets reacted to fresh US strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz. Treasuries fell and the dollar strengthened.

Crude oil futures moved higher to start the week, while equity futures pointed lower as traders once again focused on geopolitical risks around the Strait of Hormuz. US Treasuries declined and the US dollar firmed against major peers.

The moves come after a new round of US airstrikes against Iranian-linked positions, reigniting fears of supply disruptions through the key oil transit chokepoint. The Hormuz fault line has been a recurring source of volatility for energy and broader risk assets.
