Nordea: Eurozone Energy Shock Keeps ECB Under Pressure

Nordea's Jan von Gerich warns that Eurozone inflation risks remain tilted to the upside due to a persistent energy shock linked to Middle East tensions, maintaining pressure on the ECB.

Analysts at Nordea, led by Jan von Gerich, caution that the Eurozone's inflation outlook continues to face upside risks driven by an ongoing energy shock. The persistent rise in energy prices, fueled by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, is keeping the European Central Bank under pressure to maintain its hawkish stance.

The energy shock, stemming from supply disruptions and elevated crude costs, threatens to keep inflation above the ECB's target for longer than previously anticipated. This scenario reduces the likelihood of near-term rate cuts, as policymakers remain focused on curbing price pressures.
