China Q2 GDP grows 0.9% QoQ, matching expectations

China's economy expanded 0.9% quarter-on-quarter in Q2 2026, slowing from 1.3% in Q1 and in line with market forecasts, according to official data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

China's gross domestic product rose 0.9% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the previous three months, the National Bureau of Statistics reported Wednesday. The reading matched market expectations and marked a deceleration from the 1.3% expansion seen in Q1.

The data point was released as part of the NBS's regular quarterly update. No annualized figures or additional breakdowns were provided in the initial release.
