China's Manufacturing PMI Falls to 49.2 in July, Missing Forecasts

China's official manufacturing PMI dropped to 49.2 in July, below the 50.0 consensus, signaling contraction. The non-manufacturing PMI also eased to 49.0.

China’s National Bureau of Statistics reported that the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 49.2 in July, down from 50.3 in the previous month. The figure was below market expectations of 50.0.

A reading below 50 indicates contraction in the sector. The non-manufacturing PMI also weakened, easing to 49.0, suggesting broader economic softness.
