BYD Plans Dealer Network in Canada Amid Tariff Barriers
Chinese EV maker BYD is reportedly planning to establish a dealer network in Canada, despite a 100% tariff on Chinese vehicles in both the U.S. and Canada.
According to a report from Nikkei, Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is planning to set up a dealer network in Canada. This move comes despite the existence of a 100% tariff on Chinese-made vehicles in both the United States and Canada, which effectively creates an embargo.
This expansion would mark a significant step for BYD as it seeks to enter the North American market, currently dominated by domestic automakers and Tesla. The Canadian market may offer a less restrictive environment compared to the U.S., though the tariff barrier remains high.
