Trump Calls for Firing of Senate Parliamentarian

President Donald Trump urged Senate Republicans to immediately fire the Senate parliamentarian, appointed under Harry Reid and Barack Obama, alleging years of unfair rulings against Republicans.

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump called on Senate Republicans to fire the Senate parliamentarian, whom he described as appointed by former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and former President Barack Obama. Trump claimed the parliamentarian has ruled unfairly against Republicans for years and argued that Majority Leader John Thune has the authority to remove her immediately.

The post reflects ongoing tension between the Trump-aligned wing of the party and institutional Senate procedures. The parliamentarian provides nonpartisan advice on Senate rules and procedures, and firing her would break with long-standing norms. The remark comes as Republicans hold a Senate majority under Thune's leadership.
