OCBC: USD/IDR Tentatively Stabilizing, Modest Easing from Recent Highs

OCBC economists note tentative stabilization of USD/IDR with modest easing from highs, supported by S&P rating affirmation and BI tightening, but gains limited by oil prices, fiscal concerns, and soft inflows.

USDIDR

OCBC economists Sim Moh Siong and Christopher Wong observe a tentative stabilization in the USD/IDR pair, with the Indonesian rupiah easing modestly from its recent highs. This is attributed to S&P’s affirmation of Indonesia’s credit rating and Bank Indonesia’s prior tightening measures.

However, the upside for the rupiah remains limited. Elevated oil prices, lingering fiscal concerns, and still-soft portfolio inflows continue to cap further appreciation.

The analysts highlight key levels for USD/IDR, though specific figures are not provided in the note. The overall outlook suggests a cautious near-term path for the pair.
