Japanese Yen Strengthens as Easing Tensions Weigh on Dollar Ahead of Fed, BoJ

USD/JPY slipped to around 163.70 on Monday as improved risk appetite and reduced geopolitical anxiety pressured the greenback. Traders now await policy signals from the Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan.

USDJPY

The Japanese yen edged higher against the dollar at the start of the week, with USD/JPY trading near 163.70, down 0.09% on the day. The move came as easing geopolitical tensions boosted risk sentiment, reducing demand for the safe-haven dollar.

Market participants shifted focus to upcoming central bank decisions. The Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan are both set to meet, keeping traders on watch for any shifts in monetary policy guidance that could further influence the pair.

The modest yen gains reflect a broader reprieve in risk aversion, though the currency remains near multi-decade lows. Without fresh catalysts, price action was contained as investors awaited clearer directional cues from policymakers.
