HSBC Sees AUD/USD Upside into 2027 on Carry and Growth Support

HSBC strategists argue the Australian dollar has room to rise into 2027, supported by Australia's relatively high cash and government bond yields, which make AUD attractive on a carry basis within G10.

AUDUSD

HSBC strategists expect AUD/USD to strengthen through 2027, citing Australia's comparatively high cash rate and government bond yields. These factors make the Australian dollar appealing on a carry basis within the G10 group of currencies.

The bank also points to growth support as a tailwind. The combination of yield advantage and economic momentum could provide a sustained lift for the Aussie dollar over the medium term.
