Gold Holds Near $4,000 as Traders Weigh US-Iran Tensions, Fed Rate Hike Expectations

Gold remained near $4,000 an ounce as traders balanced escalating U.S.-Iran tensions against expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike later this year, with oil-driven inflation adding pressure and mediation reports limiting further losses.

XAUUSD

Gold traded near the $4,000 per ounce level on Wednesday as market participants weighed heightened geopolitical risks between the United States and Iran against growing expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates at least once this year.

Bullion faced additional headwinds from rising oil prices, which have stoked inflation concerns and reduced the appeal of non-yielding assets. However, reports of ongoing mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran helped cap the downside, preventing a sharper decline.

Traders remain focused on central bank rhetoric and Middle East developments, with gold caught between safe-haven demand and tightening monetary policy expectations.
