Dutch Trade Minister Says Chip Legislation Is Netherlands' Own Issue to Decide

The Dutch Trade Minister stated that chip legislation is a matter for the Netherlands to decide independently. On the US MATCH Act, he noted having contacts in Washington who may assist during the voting process.

The Dutch Trade Minister commented on US chip legislation, asserting that the Netherlands considers it an issue to solve and decide upon independently. This position reflects the country's approach to maintaining sovereignty over its semiconductor policies amid international pressure.

Regarding the US MATCH Act, the minister mentioned meeting people in Washington who might help when the bill reaches the voting stage. The comments come as the Netherlands balances its economic ties with both the US and China in the semiconductor sector.

The remarks highlight ongoing tensions over export controls on chip-making equipment, with Dutch firms like ASML playing a key role in the global supply chain. The minister's statements suggest a cautious stance on external interference.
