CEE Inflation Eases After Peaking in April-May

June inflation data for most CEE countries show headline inflation easing after a peak in April or May, with the Middle East conflict and higher commodity prices adding about 1 percentage point to inflation between March and May.

June inflation figures were published across Central and Eastern European (CEE) economies, with Romania being the sole exception. The data indicate that headline inflation has begun to ease after reaching a peak in either April or May.

According to the reports, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East along with rising commodity prices contributed roughly 1 percentage point to headline inflation during the March-to-May period. This external pressure pushed inflation to its highest levels in April or May for most countries in the region.

With the peak now behind, the June releases suggest a moderation in price pressures, though the exact trajectory will depend on further developments in energy and commodity markets.
