PBOC Sets USD/CNY Fix at 6.8077, Weaker Than Previous

The People's Bank of China set the USD/CNY reference rate at 6.8077 on Wednesday, slightly higher than the previous day's fix of 6.8054, indicating a marginal weakening of the yuan.

USDCNY

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) set the USD/CNY central parity rate at 6.8077 for Wednesday's trading session, compared with Tuesday's fix of 6.8054 and a Reuters estimate of 6.8018.

The reference rate serves as a daily trading band guide, allowing the yuan to fluctuate within a 2% range on either side. The slight upward adjustment suggests the PBOC is allowing modest yuan depreciation against the dollar in line with market pressures.
