Japan's June National Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.7% year-on-year, in line with the median estimate and up from 1.5% in the previous month.

Core CPI, which excludes fresh food, increased 1.6% year-on-year, matching the consensus estimate and up from 1.4% in May. The core-core CPI, excluding both fresh food and energy, rose 1.7% year-on-year, slightly below the 1.8% expected and unchanged from the prior reading of 1.8%.

The data suggests inflation remains moderate, with no major upside surprises, keeping the Bank of Japan's policy path data-dependent.
