Dow dips 0.2% as risk aversion hits stocks; tech slides more

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 117 points (0.2%) on Monday as broad risk aversion weighed on markets, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 1% and the S&P 500 also declined.

Risk aversion set the tone in U.S. markets on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average opening slightly lower while technology stocks took a bigger hit.

The Dow traded near 52,525, down 117 points or 0.2%, performing relatively better than its peers. The Nasdaq Composite shed 1%, and the S&P 500 also gave back ground, though its exact decline was not specified in the report.

The source noted that the move coincided with a metaphorical "toll booth" in the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting geopolitical or trade-related uncertainty may have fueled the cautious start to the week.
