CZ Backs ASEAN Crypto License Passporting in First Philippines Appearance

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao made his first public appearance in the Philippines at the ASEAN Tech Summit Manila 2026, where he endorsed a framework for mutual recognition of crypto licenses across the region.

Changpeng Zhao, the founder of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, made his first public appearance in the Philippines on Wednesday at the ASEAN Tech Summit Manila 2026.

During the event, CZ voiced support for a ‘passporting’ system that would allow crypto firms licensed in one ASEAN member state to operate seamlessly across the entire bloc. Such a framework would reduce regulatory friction and could accelerate crypto adoption in Southeast Asia.

The appearance marks a notable step in Binance’s engagement with the region, as Zhao continues to advocate for clearer and more harmonized digital asset rules globally.
