China Exports First Shield Tunneling Machine to Saudi Arabia for Riyadh Metro
China has completed its first shield tunneling machine for export to Saudi Arabia. The machine will be used for the Riyadh Metro Line 2 extension project.
China's first shield tunneling machine intended for export to Saudi Arabia has rolled off the production line in Tianjin. The earth pressure balance shield machine has an excavation diameter of 11.16 meters and an overall length of approximately 105 meters.
The machine is destined to support the construction of Riyadh's Metro Line 2 extension project. The extension spans 8.4 km, with a 6-km section requiring shield tunneling.
