Brazilian Farm Gets Loan Backed by Tokenized Cows

A Brazilian farm has become the first in the country to secure a loan using tokenized cattle as collateral. Ten cows valued at 120,000 reais (~$23,300) backed a 100,000 reais (~$19,400) loan, with smart collars providing real-time data for asset tracking.

A farm in Brazil has obtained a loan collateralized by tokenized livestock, marking a first for the country. The transaction involved ten cows valued at 120,000 Brazilian reais (approximately $23,300) securing a credit of 100,000 reais (approx. $19,400).

The animals are equipped with smart collars that monitor health, behavior, and location. This data is converted into encrypted digital identifiers and linked to the loan agreement, enabling the lender to assess the collateral remotely without needing to visit the farm.

The approach combines real-world asset tokenization with IoT technology, potentially increasing access to credit for agricultural producers.
