AMD and Anthropic have inked a massive AI server deal valued at tens of billions of dollars, according to the Wall Street Journal. The agreement covers significant hardware purchases and financial commitments between the two companies.

Under the terms, Anthropic will acquire up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's latest-generation Instinct MI450 chips, with deliveries set to begin in the first half of 2027. Additionally, AMD plans to invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, contingent on the achievement of specific deployment milestones.

AMD is also in discussions to provide a financial backstop for Anthropic's future data-center leases, further deepening their partnership. The deal underscores AMD's ongoing efforts to strengthen its competitive position against Nvidia and other players in the AI chip market.
